As the weather is turning, we are doing the last few things in the yard. Before Jonathon mowed this last time, he picked all of the mushrooms in our yard and put them on the back porch. Man did we have a bundle. I am sad to say I'm a bit sorry that we won't need to do much more yard work (mainly because this means that winter is on its way... and then it's snow, snow, snow.)

Playing Legos
Well, ever since we got the legos out with Matt and Rikki, legos have been on the brain. So, we decided to listen to Harry Potter on CD and play. Man how the time flies. One minute it will be 9 pm and the next 2 am. But boy is it fun.
Here's what Jonathon made:

Here's what I made:

I'm just so glad that Jonathon has all of these legos. Legos are probably the best toy ever invented. They help develop creativity and imagination, while honing important motor skills. Thank heavens for legos. I am excited for the day when Michael will play with us.

Michael is a Daddy's Boy
Michael is on the brink of crawling, yet he hasn't quite figured out how to go forward... just backward. He won't really play with his toys; he prefers to play with my diaper bag, Jonathon's shoes, the diaper wipe container, water bottles, and countless other random household things. I don't know what is so interesting to him about these items, but he seems thrilled when he finds them.
Michael loves to talk to Jonathon. He will barely say anything all day, but when Jonathon comes home a picks him up, he will just go crazy with his monotone-monosyllable phrases. Even when I try to get him going, he saves it all up for dad.
Jonathon can also get him to stop crying so much easier than me (not that he cries much cause he's amazing). One night, I got up to help Michael find his smile randomly at 1 or so. Jonathon had to be up early for study and a test the next morning so I was hoping not to wake him. But no matter what I did, Michael would not cheer up. Nursing, burping... nothing. I was just starting to get frustrated when Jonathon came in to see if he could help with anything. He took Michael, and within probably 90 secs, Michael was dozing on his shoulder. I definitely think we've got a daddy's boy on our hands... :)

Home from Detroit
We got home on Sunday and filled the day with as much playing as we could. Matt, Rikki, and Emily stayed the night, but had to head off Monday morning so we only expected to have a short time to eat and fit in a game or two before they had to head off. After a false start they ended up staying and playing a little longer.

We even got to play with the legos for a while.
Emily and Michael just love playing around together.

Although sometimes Emily still has to figure out what she thinks of Michael:

They even made up a secret handshake (try to figure that one out!)

Trip to Detroit
So, my aunt and uncle, Rikki and Matt, had to go to a seminar in Detroit over the weekend. Since it is Columbus day weekend, and Jonathon doesn't have school on Monday, we decided we might as well drive the 4 hours and meet up with them there. Matt was gone for most of the day on Saturday, and part of the day on Sunday, but we got to sit with Rikki and Emily in the hotel and play games. The two kids were so cute playing together.

We had to take a picture of the back of their heads where their hair gets rubbed off. See, Jonathon tells Michael that it is his stuffed Giraffe that eats his hair in the night, and Matt tells Emily that it is her stuffed bear. These kids are really going to have problems or something... :)

They'd play and play until they finally crashed asleep on the floor.

Mobile Baby
Michael is just starting to be able to move while he plays. He accidentally goes backward all the time. Today, while I was working, I'd look up to check on him ever so often. One time I looked up and he had backed himself partway under the couch. He wasn't fussing or anything, he was just trying to figure out what was going on. I couldn't help but take a picture 'cause it was so cute. He just looks so happy!

Picking Raspberries with Dad
We loved picking the raspberries so much that I went again, this time with Jonathon. The berries were just falling off the vine. In just over an hour, Jonathon and I had picked 12 pints of raspberries. It was a blast! Michael was great (as usual) and loved to just sit and watch all the living things and bright colors of the outdoors.
We ended the day with a quick cat nap. Here are my two wonderful guys.
