Visit from the Schoener Side

Since it is Thanksgiving weekend, some of Jonathon's extended family had traveled here to Ohio to visit other family, so they were able to also come and visit us. This was wonderful because I had not met them yet, and they, of course, had not seen Michael. Michael was able to meet...

His great uncle Gary (Jonathon's mom's brother):
He wasn't sure what he thought about this...
Aunt Katherine (on the left: Gary's wife) and Katherines mother (on the right):
Who plays some fun games...
And his great grandmother Schoener (Jonathon's maternal grandmother):
Who smiles really nice...He also got to meet his dad's cousin Alex.
We were happy that we were able to take a 4 generations picture while they were here.
After meeting so many new people, Michael was happy again to sit with grandma and grandpa, who seem to be a bit more familiar.
Thanks everyone for a great visit!

Thanksgiving

We were lucky to host Thanksgiving at our home this year. Jonathon's parents joined us, and we were pretty excited. I was pleasantly surprised with how much easier it was for me to be the host. In fact, I didn't even spend all day cooking like I thought I would. I looked at the clock all morning as we were enjoying each other's company and it wasn't until about 10 am that we even started doing anything. As it was, we still ate around 4, so it wasn't too bad. Thank heavens for frozen rolls, and a thawed turkey.

This is me and my sweet honey!

Mom and I spent some quality time in the kitchen and occasionally enlisted Jonathon's help.
Meanwhile, Grandpa kept Michael busy in the other room. It was nice to not have Little Mr. Underfoot underfoot.
Finally we all sat down to dinner. We had to quick pose for a picture taken with a timer on the camera while it balanced on the countertop.
It was a very pleasant meal.

Time with Grandpa Climer

Man, does Michael love his grandpa Climer. Now that he is crawling its fun to see them playing on the floor. Michael will be playing with a toy and the second grandpa is on the floor, Michael has dropped what he is playing with and heads over to see him. It is so cute! I'm excited for when Michael will be old enough to sit at the window to watch for grandma and grandpa when they come, and for when he will call out their names when they walk in. I just love that we are close enough to family that we can share these moments together.

Michael is crawling

It's official, Michael can now crawl all over. This has proved to be the best tool in baby proofing the house: he finds everything, and I take it away. Talk about some major adjustments. Now, I've always thought of myself as a pretty clean kept person, but I am finding things out about my house that I never new. For example, when Michael first discovered the kitchen a few days ago, I didn't think it would be a problem to let him just explore the tile while I made dinner. At least, I didn't think it would be a problem until I noticed all the things he found on the floor. In fact, even after taking away all the big things I didn't want him into, he still had some dirt and other odd stuff that stuck to the palms of his hands. I guess I didn't realize how dirty the floor was until he was crawling on it. I promptly moved him to center of the other room with all his toys and swept. But, just in case, in order to keep him from coming back into the kitchen to my sweep pile, I put some laundry baskets blocking the kitchen entry (as we do not have a baby gate just yet). Next thing I know, he is playing with the socks I had just folded. Talk about little Mr. Underfoot. Well, I couldn't think anything but how cute it was, so I took a picture. He looks pretty pleased with himself. As for now on, I will be a little more keen as to how clean the floor is.

Like Father Like Son

After going through some baby clothes that I have had upstairs (tucked away in a closet for ages), I found a cute little bow tie for Michael. Now, since Jonathon is notorious for wearing bow ties and we have been meaning to get one anyway, this came as quite a fun find. I couldn't help but dress Michael to match Jonathon for church. I must say, like father like son!
