Stuffed Giraffe from Grandma Climer

Michael's Grandma Climer made him a great yellow Giraffe. This is one of his favorite toys. Thank you Grandma!

A Growing Boy

Michael has been growing and developing so fast. I was looking back at some of the old pictures we have of Michael when he was littler. I took some pictures to compare.

This was Michael 3 months ago.
This is Michael now...

Dining Room Table

Last week we found a dining room table and chairs on craigslist. We bought them for pretty cheap and feel like we got a steal of a deal. The table comes with one leaf and 6 chairs. Also we were able to have the chair covers that the previous owners used. The table is beautiful.

We were able to have some friends over for Sunday dinner last night using our new table. We realized that this is the first time we have hosted someone other than family since we have been married. It is pretty fun. We will be doing it a lot more in the future now that our home feels like it is coming together more.

Rainy Saturdays

We had a fun Saturday, staying inside where it was dry and playing with Michael.

We were trying to catch some fun photos of his smile (which he uses constantly), but our camera uses so many flashes, by the time we took the picture, he was confused by the light and wasn't smiling.

We finally took one without the flash, which resulted in a darker picture, but a better smile.

(Luckily I can edit the pictures to make them lighter.)

Rainy Summer Days

It has be raining off and on for this entire week. It seems strange that it would rain this much, but after asking Jonathon, I learned that this is normal for the Midwest. I didn't expect this much rain in the summer, especially since in Utah, there will be weeks and weeks of blistering 100 degree weather. I love living in the Midwest. In back of our house there is a large field area that also serves as a runoff catch. So last night, when we woke up in the middle of the night because of the rolling thunder and splashing rain, a lake formed in the field. It was amazing how fast it grew. But even more amazing was how fast it disappeared. Only hours after the rain slowed, the lake was gone.

Playtime with Dad

Today Jonathon came home from work while I was working in the kitchen on dinner. I barely heard him come in. After a while I could hear the two boys playing together in the other room, so I peaked my head in to see what they were up to. I saw the cutest thing...
Jonathon had climbed in under the baby gym and was playing with Michael and his toys. It was so cute I just had to take a picture. I also thought it was a great opportunity for a family shot.

We are so lucky to have this time together, stress free and relaxed. I guess we will have to live it up because in another month or so, Jonathon will start his Master's program and life will get hectic. I guess you could say this is our summer break.

Michael's beautiful hair

In some ways it's too bad that Michael is not a baby girl. His hair is so long, and now that we are in some humidity, it is going really curly. When I sit and hold him, I find myself mindlessly playing with his hair. Today I got a brilliant idea... Why don't I braid it--if I can! So I gave it the good old college try. Here's how it turned out:

I can't wait for a girl so I can put some cute little bows or barrettes or something in her hair. Although, with my luck, and because I want it so much, she will likely be as bald as I was when I was born.
